ARTIST'S STATEMENT
When I make art, I try to make it dynamic, speaking about both the best and worst parts of a situation. This process forces myself to reaffirm that although there are countless things I could complain about, there is also a plethora of valuable, incredible things in my life. I make art to remember that my consciousness is a grey area, and everything tied to emotions is on a spectrum. A rainy day is not inherently sad or happy, it’s whatever you want it to be. I forget that sometimes, but I don’t want to forget that because it’s very easy for me to interpret things in a negative connotation. Although there are many situations that are inherently awful, they usually don’t last forever. I value the notion of trying your best to put yourself in safe and happy environments. I also value the notion of trying your best to create a safe and happy environment for those around you. My work is meant not only to humour myself and my audience, but also to encourage a calm, reflective attitude in the eyes of myself or any viewer.
